Yoga helps us to tap into our essence and to unfold fully into the experience of being human.  Like many modern yogis, I explored many variations on the teachings of yoga before settling into my chosen primary practice.  I found value and insight in each different approach along the way, but have also found that having one core practice has deepened my understanding and experience of yoga. I believe that whatever the outward practice, an approach of sincerity, mindfulness, and joyfulness will yield deep transformation. My role as a teacher is to create a safe space where students feel inspired to cultivate these qualities in their practice of asana (postures), pranayama (breathing), and meditation.

I have been practicing yoga since 1999, teaching beginners since 2001 (logging over 1,000 classroom hours), and have studied vinyasa flow, Bikram, Iyengar and ashtanga as well as yogic philosophies, sacred chant, and pranayama. I received my teaching certification in 2006 in ashtanga vinyasa yoga from the Centered Yoga Institute on Koh Samui, Thailand, and studied teaching further at the Ashtanga Yoga School in Seattle. My primary practice is the ashtanga vinyasa system as taught by Sri K. Patthabi Jois.

I am currently on sabbatical from regular teaching, but am available to sub occasionally for vinyasa, ashtanga, and basic hatha classes.
